Bathroom Update

Here's an update on what our hall bath currently looks like:

Somehow, I expected more sheetrock to remain on the walls during the "remodel." Hmmm.

Over the last few days we've been frantically choosing tubs and tile and faucets, so the plumbers and tilemasons can stay on schedule with their work. While searching for a combination tub/shower faucet, I spent some time reading on Delta's/Kohler's/Moen's/etc's websites about all their fancy fandangled features. Since this will be the bathroom that we will bathe our child(ren) in someday, we decided one of those showerhead sprayers would be a good idea. So we can sorta hose 'em down if need be.

(Like this, only in the bathtub.)

I showed Chris what I had found in my website research, and showed him a few features I thought he would like (like the water-saving features, because Chris is such a tree-hugger -- I mean conservationist...). Long story short, Chris ended up choosing a faucet that was a little more expensive but has a temperature-saving feature so that if someone flushes a toilet nearby, our child in the bathtub won't get scalded.

Isn't that thoughtful? He's already thinking like a protective daddy.

Flash Forward

A few weeks ago I went shopping at The Gateway with my brother Nate. I was newly pregnant and still feeling great, so I couldn't resist stopping at A Pea In A Pod and trying on a few things. I found this cute skirt to try on, but when I did it sort of hung funny in front. Then we realized that's what the faux-bellies in the dressing room were for. So I strapped on one, and when I stepped out of the dressing room, Nate and I couldn't stop laughing.

Is this really what I'm going to look like in a few months? Wow. It's still doesn't feel real yet.

I still haven't been able to get Chris into a maternity store with me yet. One look at these pictures was enough for him.

Why I've Been Slacking

It's time. Time to tell you why I've been slacking with posting and/or deal updating for the last four or five weeks. I will do so with a simple math equation (because we all know I love math).

This

+

This
=

A whole lotta worshipping this

While this equation is in fact true, Chris and I really are VERY, VERY excited! We couldn't be more excited. And when I start holding down my breakfast better in a few weeks here, my face will start to show it more.

We can't wait to meet the little munchkin, due November 18, 2009.

Our New Nephew

After much worrying and prayer, Chris's sister and her husband got a baby last week! The birth mother was flown here to give birth, so Stacey and Erik were able to be there for the whole process. Then after all the paperwork was finished, they were able to take the baby home last Wednesday!

We went to visit last week and meet our new nephew, Braden. Preston, his big brother, was still getting used to the idea of a new baby. He's had a little trouble learning to be "soft," but I think he'll get the hang of it soon.

Amy at the Prom

Last weekend my little sister Amy went to Junior Prom. Julie and I were the hair & makeup team, and I think we did a pretty good job! Amy looked gorgeous, as always. She chose a tea-length dress and flirty hair, which fits her personality perfectly. Her date (the prom King) looked cute in his matching tux. What a cute couple!

Brandi Carlile Concert

Michelle and I went to the Brandi Carlile concert last Saturday at The Stateroom. It's a small, 300-person venue downtown so it was super small and intimate. We were like 2 feet from the stage! It was so insane!

The opener was Angel Taylor. I hadn't heard of her before, but she was awesome, and apparently one of her songs was #1 on iTunes 2 weeks ago. She handed out samplers after she opened, and I'm really liking her music.

Then Brandi came on and the crowd went crazy! It was awesome. The stage was setup with rugs and candles and lamps and things -- really homey. There was a film crew of hers there, filming the show for who knows what (a DVD or something?). So maybe Michelley and I will be famous!

After the show we got autographs and pictures with her. She even wrote a little note to Amy, who wasn't able to come since she was at Junior Prom (more on that later). Brandi Carlile was so amazingly talented and nice. When we left we almost couldn't believe what we had seen. It was like a once in a lifetime show! Wow.

Brandi's guitar.

Brandi singing the first song.

See all her guitar picks? She threw out a MILLION of them. Sadly, we caught none.

At one point her band unplugged completely and she came to the edge of the stage and sang a totally unplugged song from her new album. It was amazing! Can't do that in a big venue, that's for sure.

We liked her boots.

We were so close! She was right in front of us!!!

As an encore she sang a few songs just with her and the guitar. One of them called "That Year" was amazing - I hope it's on the next album. You should youtube-it if you're a fan.

Michelley and I laughing and talking with Brandi while getting autographs. She signed a poster for our little sister Amy that said "Amy, we missed you! Love Brandi." Amy almost cried when we gave it to her. Literally. Needless to say, we are the best big sisters ever.

Pics with Brandi.

Michelley and I with our "OH MY GOSH, WE JUST SAW BRANDI CARLILE!" faces.

Here's a video clip I took on my camera of her most famous song -- The Story.

Here's a video clip we took with our real video camera. It's the first song she sang.

My Wonderful Husband

Last night I came home from a long day at work and a long evening at a bridal shower to find that my hubby had done the...

and the...
...without me even asking! He just noticed that we were low on socks and undies, so he washed a load of those and a load of our towels. What man notices that towels need to be washed?

When I walked in the door he was standing at the sink with the dishwasher running, washing the hand-wash items. Wow.

I think I have the most wonderful husband ever. Thanks for being so great to me when I feel under the weather! Love you!

Our Bathroom

Our hall bathroom used to look like this:

And now it looks like this:

With all the newfound time on his hands, Chris has begun taking a sledgehammer to our hall bath. The shower has been leaking into the basement when it gets used, so we knew it's time was coming to an end soon. I wanted to take a peek inside and snap a picture but Chris has dubbed it "off limits" and shut the door when he's not working on it. Do you think that means he secretly bashed a giant hole in the wall and he's too scared to tell me?

Updates to come.
