August Insta-Dump

Best friends.

Cuddling in the rocking chair.

Running through the sprinklers in my Sunday dress with Preston & Braden.

Garden harvest.

Jumpy, jumpy, jump.

This boy LOVES to feed himself, as evidenced by the teething-biscuit-beard.

Love this boy's rolls!

Emme's new shoes for Fall. "But mom, why them are not girl shoes?"

This boy doesn't mind being smothered in love. (thank-heavens)

We got some hand-me-down toys from our cousins. They provided us with hours of entertainment the next morning. Hooray for hand-me-downs!

We've been loving Tracy Aviary this summer. We packed a lunch one day and had a picnic.

Henry At 7 Months

Henry continues to be a delightful boy. He is now army crawling his way around the house. He basically leaves his bottom half limp and drags his body around purely with his arm strength. It's quite silly looking! We hope he'll get up on his knees soon.

No teeth yet for this boy, but we're discovering that he hates babyfood but LOVES table food (total opposite of Emme). If I blend up a banana and try to feed it to him like babyfood he won't touch it. But if I cut chunks up and feed them to him he will down the whole thing. And he even likes to try to feed them to himself if I set them on the tray!

A few notes about Henry:
  • I think we finally kicked the cradle cap! Only took us 7 months. :)
  • He has no desire to stand or pull himself up on things
  • Henry is sitting like a champ.
  • He's working hard at getting food from his fist to his mouth. He wants to so badly! It will come with time.
  • He still LOVES to jump in his jumparoo.
  • Henry is becoming a daddy's boy. If we're all hanging out together and Chris walks out of the room, Henry will cry and cry until Chris comes back to pick him up. It's very cute!
  • This boy is so content he can fall asleep practically anywhere. The other day I had him strapped into the cart at the grocery store, with the strap across his little chest. I look down and see Henry hanging forward, lifeless-looking and I panic for a moment. Oh my gosh, is he breathing? When I push him back and lift his chin I find out, nope, he's just sleeping. The little man just plain falls asleep wherever he pleases! So funny.
  • Henry is still a cuddly, sweet little boy that loves to be held. We are eating it up and enjoying every snuggle!

Love you, Henry boy! Happy seven months.

Slides & Leaves

One evening while Chris was gone we went over to hang out at Shell's house (aka, Grandma Pace's house). Shell is husbandless a lot lately because Jeff is studying for the LSAT. So we got to hang out with her and keep each other company. We made cookies and slid on Grandma's slide.

And we also ate some leaves.

Super-Emme

Our library does the best story time. They had PJ story time once a month this summer, where you got to come listen to stories in your jammies. Emme thought it was a riot! The theme for August was superheroes. We read stories about superheroes, and then we made some superhero capes & masks and jumped over buildings (cereal boxes wrapped in black paper), defeated villains (in a bean bag toss) and showed our strength & endurance in a weight lifting and hula hooping contest.

It was a such a blast, and Emme took it very seriously. Super-Emme!

The Zoo

We finally made it to the zoo this summer to see the new Rocky Shores exhibit! Emme loved the seals & the polar bear, but her favorite was probably the regular bears.

One of them was passed out in the shade (can you blame him?) and Emme could have stood their for hours watching him sleep so close by.

Henry is such a good sport when we go on outings. He just hung out in his stroller the whole time and loved it.

I convinced Emme we should go in the (air conditioned) reptile house to see the snakes & frogs, so we spent some time in there. Our new favorite game is now Emme running up to the glass and pointing to an animal and asking, "what does this one eat?" And then I read the plaque and tell her and she laughs and laughs. ("This one eats leaves? Ew, gross!") Hilarity ensues.

The Patagonian Cavy was so cute, she just kept watching us.

Our other favorite today was the Cape Hyrax. ("Mom, take a picture of this one! He's cute.")

It was fun, zoo! We'll see you in a few weeks when the crowds subside and the weather cools off a bit. :)
