28 Week Belly Pic

Two Sundays ago (at 26 weeks, 4 days) I woke up to get ready for church and I felt some really strong stretching pains down low on my right side. By the time I got out of the shower, I was in so much pain that I sat down on the couch by Chris and cried for a minute. I wasn't alarmed by the pains because I knew they were just stretching, but man did they hurt when I stood up and moved! (And FYI, prettymuch all I do is stand on Sundays for Primary.) Something just felt different that day and the pains lasted well into the afternoon. I felt like an old woman walking around all hunched at church that day. Just slap some old lady perfume on me and hand me a cane.

Later that week I was reading my pregnancy book and I discovered that 27 weeks is when the baby usually turns head down, and it finally clicked in my brain. That's what I felt the previous Sunday -- she must have turned!

So when I went to the doctor yesterday for a checkup, I asked her if she thought my baby was head down now. She started off into some discourse about how babies can really turn any direction they want back and forth until about 34 weeks, so I shouldn't worry about it and blah blah blah blah. Then as soon as she started her examination she felt around on my stomach down low and said in surprise "Oh! You're right, your baby is head down already!"

Boo-ya.

Doctor: 0

The only downside to her turning so far is that she constantly has her feet up under my right rib cage. All. Day. Long. And only on the right side. I can literally dig my hand in under my ribs and push her feet down and away. (Where they stay for about 3.2 seconds.)

I can push my baby's feet with my hand. While she's in my stomach. It's so weird.

(Seriously, do I look tired in this picture or what? Sheesh.)

Best moment this week #1: Getting the fabric swatches for the crib bedding!
Best moment this week #2: Chris freaking out when he I told him I have doctor's appointments every 2 weeks from here on out because we're coming down the home stretch. Oh-noes!
Funniest moment this week: Walking into Expected Maternity boutique and having the sales lady ask me if other pregnant ladies hate me when I told her how far along I was.
Belly button in or out: Top half out, bottom half in.
(Or in other words: gross.)
Labor signs: None except she's head down.
What I miss: Laying on my stomach while playing Dr. Mario on the Wii
What I'm looking forward to: Ordering the crib bedding!

The crib fabric swatches. Oh my cuteness!

That's so cool that you were able to recognize what was happening!

And the pregnancy statistics are such a great idea--you'll be able to remember what you were thinking and feeling at different points during the pregnancy.

I saw your facebook note; I'm sorry I didn't see it earlier (I check facebook only once or twice a month.) I would LOVE to hear any birth mother gift ideas. Thank you!!

Hang in there! I LOVE the materials by the way. I'm going to have to come see the nursery when you are all done. I'm sure it will be the cutest baby room!

You do look really good! And I totally understand what you're feeling. My little guy was right under my ribs for like 16 weeks. Towards the end it got really annoying, but he was so long, he had no where to go!
